Gustavus Technology Services will never ask for your password.

Be aware that this weekend an email, NOT FROM GUSTAVUS, was sent out regarding your email password. Please be aware that this is a scam/phishing attempt. Thank you to those that brought it to our attention. Please delete the message immediately. Always remember, if you are in doubt, please call the Technology Helpline at x6111

Here is what the email looked like:
From: Gustavus WebMail Management
To: (deleted)
Reply-to: (deleted)
Subject: Comfirm Your Gustavus WebMail Account

Dear Gustavus WebMail Subscriber,

To complete your Gustavus WebMail account, you must reply to this email
immediately and enter your password here (*********)

Failure to do this will immediately render your email address deactivated from
our database.

You can also confirm your email address by logging into your Gustavus WebMail
account at https://webmail.gac.edu/

How do I notice that this is SPAM?

1. Look at the subject. Confirm is spelled wrong.

2. Look at the reply-to: address. The email address is to some email yahoo.uk address.

3. It does not mention anything about our phone number. They may be able to spoof an email address, but it is unlikely they know the Technology Helpline’s phone number.
