Device Registration Changes Posted on February 1st, 2022 by

Technology Services set out with the goal of making it easier for students, faculty, and staff to connect their devices to the Gustavus network. To that end, we have changed the way these devices are authorized, and you will no longer need to register your devices before they are allowed to join the Gustavus and GustavusSecure wireless networks.

The registration process was a necessary security measure, but technology has changed since it was first implemented, and we now have less obtrusive means to ensure the network’s integrity. These updates will also allow us to deactivate the GustavusGuest wireless network entirely, as campus guests will now be able to use the regular Gustavus wireless network as easily as everyone else. With this being the case, you should expect the GustavusGuest option to disappear on February 2, 2022.

Finally, you can expect to hear about more network improvements over the coming weeks, as we continue to make progress toward a better and more secure network for all.
