Apple has released emergency security updates to eliminate an issue that could allow outside entities to install malicious software on their devices without a user’s knowledge, and without any precipitating action on the user’s behalf. It is critical that you update your Apple devices (Mac computers, iPads, iPhones, Watches) with the new software as soon as possible. Technology Services recommends following these steps:
- iOS and iPadOS – Settings > General > Software Update (14.8 update)
- MacOS – Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Updates > under Other updates are available, click More Info to view and install the security update. (We recommend installing the security update, and not upgrading to a newer OS) If you are using Big Sur currently, you will be installing the MacOS 11.6 update.
