Checking for data breaches is quick and easy

Data breaches happen all the time, and often they are accompanied with little fanfare or subsequent notification to you, the user. If you’re concerned that your data may have been exposed, there’s a tool that can quickly cross-reference your Gustavus email address (or your personal email address) with known data breaches. Simply follow these steps to reveal any possible exposures.

  1. Sign into the Gustavus website
  2. Click your user portrait to expand the user menu
  3. Click the “Gustavus User Settings” option
  4. Scroll down to the “Sign-In & Security” section and click “Check for possible breaches”
  5. View information about possible data breaches associated with your email address
  6. Check your other email addresses at the bottom of the page

Chances are, some of your information has already been exposed. We recommend you check this helpful tool often to ensure you’re aware of issues as soon as possible. If you’re concerned about a particular breach, we recommend that you update your account passwords and make sure each one is unique.
