GACwireless in the Residence Halls Posted on August 28th, 2006 by

As many of you can probably see by now, the GACwireless signal has reached the residence halls. At last! Here are some tips to keep it up and running. Please be aware that wireless browsing should be considered a convenience and not a replacement for plugging your computer into the ethernet jack in your room.

  • Do not use personal wireless access points.
  • Do not use 2.4 Ghz phones in your rooms, they operate on the same frequency as the wireless signals.
  • Do not use wireless headphones
  • Be aware that microwaves will disrupt the wireless signal.
  • If you are experiencing slow web browsing, disable your wireless on your laptop and then enable it again. Your computer will connect you to the access point that has the greatest signal strength.
