Corpse Flower Camera Posted on April 30th, 2007 by

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of many people here at Gustavus we now have a wolderful flowering Amorphophallus titanum also known as a Corpse Flower to Titan Arum. Thanks to this unique event we have been given an opportunity to put some of our “toys” to good use.

This afternoon we added a third Axis 207MW Network camera to the greenhouse to capture the rapid growth of the plant from as many different angles as we can. These three cameras are used to capture an image at 5 minute intervals for use on the Titan Arum Webcam page.

We are also capturing and archiving images at 1 minute intervals to be used for making time lapse videos of the growth. These videos are currently available on the GusTV Events page. They can also be found on YouTube and Google Video

And if those options are not enough, people located on the Gustavus campus can watch live video from these cameras as well. If you have a TV connected to the cable system, you can watch one of the cameras on channel 7. Also, computers connected to the wired network can stream live video from the cameras. You can find links for those video sources on the GusTV Events page as well.

Although they didn’t use our camera ( like the Mankato Free Press did) KEYC has a little video clip of Brian and the Titan Arum.
