As many of you know, Gustavus Adolphus College’s students, faculty, and staff have a limit to the amount of data (files, email, etc) they are able to save on the Gustavus server, otherwise known as your Home Directory. This limit is called your Quota. Many web-based email sites such as Yahoo!, Hotmail, or Gmail have these limits as well.
Over the years, the amount of storage allotted to users has increased. The last major change was a jump from 40MB to 150MB. During the Fall of 2006, quotas for everybody (students and other regular-need users) has been raised to 200MB. To learn more about Quotas, please visit the GTS web page on quotas.
To check your disk usage and your quota:
- Point your web browser to the GTS (Gustavus Technology Services) Tools page.
- Log in with your e-mail username and password.
- Click the “Check disk usage” link.
You will be presented with a page describing the size of your quota, how much of your quota you are currently using, and which files are the largest.
