Latest email virus Posted on January 27th, 2004 by

As everyone should know by now, another email virus is going around. As far as we can tell, nobody on campus has been infected yet. Our mailserver is deleting a lot of attachments that are infected with this virus and anything that made it through should also be caught by the latest virus definitions. However I do know that a lot of other places on the net have not been so fortunate and this virus has brought their mailservers to their knees. One of those unlucky ones being the Saint Peter Schools. So don’t be suprized if you can’t reliably exchange email with them today.

Also many people will probably get email bounces from other mail servers saying that you sent a virus. Don’t worry. You didn’t send the virus. The virus on someone else’s computer sent the email pretending to be you.

Hopefully our setup is solid and will not fail to keep this threat at bay. I have my fingers crossed 🙂
