Gustavus Technology Services is excited to announce that as part of the College’s information security initiatives, we have partnered with a new vendor to provide our next generation antivirus solution (NGAV). Over the past few months, we have evaluated and tested several solutions in order to determine the best fit for Gustavus. We evaluated each of the vendors based on several criteria including cost, ease of use, capabilities, effectiveness, visibility, peer reviews, and deployment. After this evaluation, we were able to narrow the list down. We believe this solution will give the best level of prevention from viruses and attacks, and provide deep insight into security events in order to ensure that appropriate actions are taken.
Technology Services will begin the deployment of the new agent to Gustavus-owned devices over the next week. This deployment requires no action from the end user since it will automatically install in the background. During the initial phase of deployment, the solution will only function in a detection mode as we ensure there are no unforeseen applications that conflict with its deployment. After the initial deployment phase, we will enable the solution’s full functionality so it is actively detecting and preventing malware from executing on Gustavus-owned machines.
